Home, I'm Darling Auditions
Every marriage needs a little fantasy to keep it sparkling. But behind the gingham curtains, being a domestic goddess isn't as easy as it looks. Home, I'm Darling is the 2019 Olivier award-winning dark new comedy about sex, cake and the quest to be the perfect 1950s housewife.

Judy - 30-45Â
Judy wants to live the role of the perfect 1950s housewife. She is dressed like a prom queen with a frilly apron to protect her frock, preparing her husband's breakfast and making his packed lunch. She waves him off with a perfect smile and sits down at the kitchen table. Only when she opens a drawer and removes her laptop do we realise that this is the 21st century, and Judy’s seeming authenticity (she grows vegetables and makes marmalade) is profoundly artificial.
Johnny - 30-45
Judy's husband. He goes to work everyday in his 50s car wearing his 50s suit and hat. The issue is, he is beginning to feel jaded with the 50s lifestyle, a feeling which is emphasised by the pressures of his job as an estate agent. He is desperately chasing a promotion because he's beginning to worry that the financial constraints of his and Judy's lifestyle are taking their toll.
Fran - 25-40
Fran is Judy's best friend. She admires Judy's lifestyle and feels pressure from her husband Marcus to explore it for herself, but ultimately, she loves her job and lifestyle too much to entertain it seriously.
Marcus - 35-50
Fran's husband. Marcus loves the idea of the 50s lifestyle and would like to live the dream for himself. Perhaps he wants to live it too much as his old-fashioned attitudes ultimately land him in trouble.
Alex - 25-35
Johnny's boss. She is the complete antithesis to Judy's domestic goddess. She is very business driven, but she has a good relationship with Johnny that makes Judy uncomfortable.
Sylvia - 55-75
Judy's mum. Sylvia is a staunch feminist who openly disapproves of Judy's lifestyle. In Act 2, she delivers an excellent monologue about all the ways that Judy's life is a sham.
